I immediactly bought a couple of gel twist pads (one for mouse and one for keyboard) and installed a support below the desk, so I could keep my arms in the correct position when working.
This solution is a little McGiverish and has its con’s and pro’s. But it’s a whole DIY product, so I am satisfied with the results.
Via Lifehacker I got to this Ubuntuforum thread and in a matter of minutes fixed a problem that kept me away from using my laptop touchpad.

(In the first 5 seconds you hear something falling. I think it’s funny so I left it uncut)
I found out you may need to install gstreamer0.8-plugin-apps in order to get more visual effects available. You also may need to restart GDM in order for them do be loaded (after installing them of course, aptitude install gstreamer0.8-plugin-appsis your friend).
